Malatya social‑housing draw and contract schedule for TOKİ’s 500,000 homes
On 24 July 2026 a public draw for the allocation of units under the “500 000 Social Housing” programme was held at the Malatya Congress and Culture Centre. The ceremony was attended by Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum and TOKİ President Mustafa Levent Sungur. 8 448 households were identified as beneficiaries, bringing the total of families awaiting homes to roughly 35 000.
The draw covered the 8 456 newly built 3+1 apartments in the Yeşilyurt‑İkizce neighbourhood. Contract signing for these units is scheduled between 3 August and 30 October 2026, with the process handled by Türkiye Emlak Katılım Bankası and Halkbank. Buyers will pay a 10 % down‑payment and the remaining balance over 240 monthly installments; prices range from 1.8 million TL for 1+1 units to 2.65 million TL for larger 2+1 apartments, with monthly payments between 6 750 TL and 9 938 TL.
TOKİ officials highlighted that the agency has built 1.767 million homes since 2002, 42 % for low‑ and middle‑income families and 26 % for disaster‑relief housing. Following the February 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, 348 493 disaster homes were completed across 11 provinces. During a site visit in Battalgazi, Sungur emphasized the need for “climate‑resilient cities” that can withstand earthquakes, floods, fires and other hazards. Minister Kurum remarked, “The state is not a slogan on a screen; it is the steel‑wired will that rebuilds cities.”
