Malay youth accused of participating in diverse religious rituals

A 21-year-old Malay man, identified in social media posts as Aliff Daniel, has come under scrutiny following allegations of participating in various religious rituals and spiritual practices associated with the New Age Movement (NAM).

According to claims shared on Facebook by an account named Masyitah Ashari, the individual, who was raised Muslim, has allegedly traveled to multiple countries to engage in diverse spiritual practices. The posts claim he has studied spiritual teachings from various religions, including Hinduism, and has acted as a shaman using Siamese mantras alongside Islamic ruqyah.

Viral images and descriptions suggest the individual participated in rituals at a temple in Batu Caves, Selangor, during the Thaipusam festival. These allegations include claims of carrying religious objects on his head and performing specific ritualistic actions associated with Hindu traditions. The posts express concern over the mixing of different religious beliefs while maintaining an Islamic identity.
