Malaysia Day leaders call for unity and MA63 implementation
During the 63rd Malaysia Day celebrations, various national and regional leaders emphasized the importance of unity and the legal foundations of the nation. A central theme across messages from Sabah and Sarawak leaders was the necessity of upholding the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor and Governor Musa Aman highlighted that MA63 is a living document that must be implemented with transparency to protect Sabah's rights and interests. Leaders called for the fulfillment of constitutional promises, including revenue-sharing and parliamentary representation.
In Sarawak, Premier Abang Johari Openg welcomed the federal government's commitment to MA63, noting that Sarawak's economic and technological advancement is intended to contribute to the prosperity of the entire federation.
National figures, including Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil and Sarawak Governor Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, called for social cohesion and mutual respect among Malaysia's diverse ethnic and religious groups. They urged citizens to use technology and education to drive progress while maintaining the peace and stability that underpins the country's development.
