Malaysia Deputy Minister urges employers to use Job Coaches for OKU workers
Lim Hui Ying, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, has encouraged employers to utilize Job Coach services to assist persons with disabilities (OKU) in adapting to tasks and work environments. The service aims to help employers understand specific employee needs and implement appropriate communication methods.
Speaking at the Langkah Bersama Berapit 2.0 program in Bukit Mertajam, Lim emphasized that ensuring a clear transition from education to employment for youth with disabilities requires a ‘whole-of-government’ approach. This involves collaboration between various ministries and agencies to provide integrated support.
Lim noted that private sector participation is essential for creating inclusive job opportunities. She also highlighted the importance of utilizing the RM1.5 billion allocation provided to the OKU community in the 2027 Budget to support these goals.
