Malaysia dismantles human trafficking ring exploiting Jordanian children

Malaysian authorities have dismantled a suspected human trafficking ring involved in the exploitation of foreign children for forced begging. Under an initiative known as ‘Operation Pentas Kasih’, police rescued 17 Jordanian minors, including eight boys and nine girls ranging in age from three months to 14 years. The group primarily operated in busy pedestrian areas such as Bukit Bintang and Chow Kit.

Preliminary investigations suggest the ring was managed by Jordanian nationals who had entered Malaysia legally on 90-day social visit visas. The group reportedly earned between 500 and 1,000 Malaysian ringgit daily by exploiting the children to solicit money from the public.

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates is coordinating with Malaysian authorities to ensure the welfare of the victims and facilitate their return to Jordan. Spokesperson Ambassador Fuad al-Majali stated that the ministry is monitoring the situation through its embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Once the adult suspects return to Jordan, they will face legal proceedings under national laws, including the Anti-Human Trafficking Law.
