Malaysia expands cash assistance program under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the government has broadened cash assistance, allowing some families to receive up to RM1,800. The expanded scheme, delivered through the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programmes, transfers funds directly to beneficiaries without the need to stand in queues.
Anwar highlighted that the administration has kept its promise to lower fuel prices and has introduced other cost‑of‑living measures, including salary hikes for civil servants and police. He also pointed to larger development projects such as the Johor‑Singapore Special Economic Zone and the RTS Link, urging that these initiatives bring tangible benefits to ordinary Malaysians.
