Malaysia fines two people for illegal storage of subsidised diesel and cooking oil

In Johor Bahru, court‑ordered owner Azizi Derani, 46, was fined RM25,000 after admitting to storing 30,972 litres of subsidised diesel in a motor‑tanker and 237 litres in an iron tank at his residence in Kampung Sinaran Baru, Skudai. The prosecution, invoking Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961, ordered the forfeiture of RM74,901 in proceeds from the unauthorised fuel.

Separately, truck driver Moo Teck Lim, 50, faced charges for possessing 4.845 tonnes of subsidised cooking oil at a premises in Bandar Pinggir Subang. The case, brought under the 1974 Control of Supplies Regulations, allowed a maximum fine of RM1 million or up to three years’ imprisonment. The driver was granted bail of RM15,000 and required to report monthly to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs.
