Malaysia fuel smuggling syndicate seized before crossing into Thailand

Police in Kelantan intercepted two separate fuel‑smuggling operations destined for the Thai border. On 26 July, the Pasukan Gerakan Am (PGA) South Brigade seized ten drums containing about 80 litres of petrol near Pengkalan Haram Miji in Pasir Mas. The suspect fled, jumped into a boat and tried to head toward the border before being stopped. The case has been referred to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDN) for further action under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

In a related raid later, KPDN officers stormed a house in Kampung Pauh Sembilan, Kelantan, uncovering 10,200 kg of packed cooking oil transported from the Klang Valley. The oil, worth roughly RM 25,000, was being transferred to two Mitsubishi Pajero SUVs and a Proton Waja for onward smuggling to Thailand. Four men were arrested, and the seized vehicles and cargo are also being investigated under the same act.
