Malaysia increases BUDI MADANI fuel subsidy quotas to 300 liters
The Malaysian Ministry of Finance has announced that the monthly basic eligibility quota for BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) and BUDI MADANI Diesel (BUDI Diesel) recipients will be increased from 200 liters to 300 liters, effective September 1.
For BUDI Diesel, the quota for certain users is being adjusted, with eligible private diesel pickup and jeep owners able to apply for an additional 100 liters, bringing their total monthly eligibility to 400 liters. This adjustment will be applied automatically to existing approved recipients.
Currently, approximately 16 million users benefit from RON95 at a subsidized rate of RM1.99 per liter, while over 700,000 users are eligible for diesel at RM2.10 per liter. The government stated that the decision to restore the 300-liter quota accounts for improved supply management, stricter enforcement, and the country's strong economic performance, while also addressing the cost-of-living needs of citizens and small traders.
