Malaysia BUDI MADANI fuel subsidy quota adjustments
Overview
Following a reduction in the monthly fuel quota from 300 to 200 litres in April, PKR Youth called on the Malaysian government to restore the BUDI95 targeted subsidy ceiling. The group proposed a more responsive mechanism, suggesting an allowance of up to 350 litres for specific groups with high mobility needs, such as long-distance commuters.
In response to economic conditions and improved supply management, the Malaysian Ministry of Finance announced that the monthly basic eligibility quota for BUDI MADANI RON95 and BUDI MADANI Diesel recipients will increase from 200 litres to 300 litres, effective September 1. Additionally, certain private diesel pickup and jeep owners may apply for an extra 100 litres, bringing their total monthly eligibility to 400 litres.
