Malaysia investigates fertilizer supply delays affecting farmers

Malaysia's Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, has addressed significant delays in fertilizer supplies that have caused losses for farmers. The delays occurred following a tender process, leading to a decision to terminate the agreement with a company that failed to meet delivery specifications.

Minister Mohamad Sabu stated that the government is currently reviewing mechanisms to provide targeted assistance to farmers who have experienced a decline in crop yields due to the shortage. This review will be conducted on a case-by-case basis to identify those most affected, while the ministry also examines the availability of necessary funds.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is investigating the matter to determine if any wrongdoing occurred. The Minister confirmed he has provided testimony to the MACC and emphasized that investigations should be completed before any accusations are made regarding those involved.
