Malaysia prepares for Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections in July-August

The 16th state elections in Malaysia will be held on 11 July in Johor and on 1 August in Negeri Sembilan, covering 56 and 36 assembly seats respectively. Pakatan Harapan leaders, including Negeri Sembilan Chief Minister Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, urged party cadres and voters to support unity and vote to sustain development and stability.

The Election Commission scheduled candidate nominations for 27 June (Johor) and 18 July (Negeri Sembilan), with early voting on 7 July and 28 July. About 3.61 million registered voters will participate: 2.73 million in Johor and 889,490 in Negeri Sembilan. Over 42,000 election officers and 1,140 polling centres are planned for Johor, and 15,300 officers with 439 centres for Negeri Sembilan. The elections are budgeted at RM 86.8 million for Johor and RM 80.6 million for Negeri Sembilan.
