Malaysia provides financial aid to students through PTPTN and YAPEIM
Students in Malaysia are receiving various forms of financial assistance to support their higher education. Under the BAeK PTPTN initiative, which was announced during the 2026 Budget presentation, students registered in the eKasih database are eligible for scholarship funding for full-time diploma or bachelor's degree programs at approved public higher education institutions.
Between January 1 and August 31, 2026, approximately 1,254 students nationwide have benefited from the BAeK PTPTN initiative, involving an allocation of RM20.87 million. Recent recipients in Melaka included students from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), and Politeknik Melaka.
In a separate effort, the YAPEIM Welfare and Education Fund (TKPY) distributed over RM100,000 in aid to 104 UKM students. This assistance included RM59,000 for living expenses, RM25,080 for tuition fees, and RM17,500 for laptops to support learning needs.
