Malaysia Sarong Music Run draws 20,000 participants in Kuala Lumpur

More than 20,000 participants gathered in Kuala Lumpur for the Malaysia Sarong Music Run 2026, an event designed to showcase Malaysian cultural heritage ahead of the Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 campaign. Participants wore sarongs and batik sashes while engaging in a 5km run accompanied by music and cultural performances.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Tiong King Sing attended the event, participating in the flag-off and running alongside participants. The event aimed to promote healthy lifestyles and introduce the nation's traditions to both domestic and international audiences.

Automotive company JETOUR served as the official partner, providing a fleet of over 100 vehicles for a city parade and staging a drone light show above the Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers. During the event, JETOUR and the Malaysia Marathon signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) covering 2027 to 2029 to promote local travel culture and outdoor lifestyle experiences.
