Malaysia: Zafrul urges fact‑based voting, Umno doubts BN‑PN pact’s fit

Senior political adviser Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz urged Malaysian voters to assess state governments on concrete economic data rather than political rhetoric. Citing Negeri Sembilan under Chief Minister Aminuddin Harun, he noted positive growth since 2018, with state investment reaching RM19 billion and reserves exceeding RM1 billion, and called for continued support for the incumbent administration.

Umno Supreme Council member Sharkar Shamsudin warned that the Barisan Nasional‑Perikatan Nasional alliance used in the Negeri Sembilan polls may not suit other states such as Pahang, Johor, Melaka or Selangor. He emphasized that each state has distinct political dynamics and that voters now have many choices among Malay parties, urging parties to adopt a more open approach.

Both officials highlighted the need for fact‑based evaluation of state performance and cautioned against a one‑size‑fits‑all political pact across Malaysia’s diverse states.
