Malaysian climbers missing after devastating Nepal floods

Several Malaysian citizens, including professional climbers and firefighters, are reported missing following devastating floods and mudslides near the Nepal-Tibet border. Among those unable to be contacted is Mohd Fakhrul Munir Mohd Isa, a veteran climber and member of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) with 25 years of experience in extreme sports.

Also reported missing is Mohd Sani Harul, an Assistant Commissioner of Fire within the JBPM. The group was reportedly traveling via jeep toward Everest Base Camp through the Tibet route rather than climbing at the time of the disaster.

The Malaysian Embassy in Kathmandu has stated that they are currently gathering information regarding more than 50 Malaysians who have lost contact with their families following the floods. Families of the missing are awaiting official confirmation from authorities regarding the safety and status of their loved ones.
