Malaysian families seek access to Nepal security center

Families of 55 Malaysians missing in Nepal are requesting access to the National Security Council (MKN) operations center to facilitate bilateral information sharing. The Malaysia-Nepal Disaster Family Support Group, representing 49 of the 55 affected families, stated that current daily updates from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are no longer sufficient.

Spokesperson Manivannan Ratnam emphasized that the request for access is not an attempt to interfere with or control search and rescue operations, but rather a move to ensure transparency and better coordination. He noted that since the sixth day of the disaster, there has been a lack of specific information regarding the status of the missing individuals, aside from a confirmation that three people passed through immigration in the Tibet border area.

Families have also attempted to meet with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to seek guidance and present their findings.
