Malaysian Immigration Department files police report over viral customer claims
The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) has filed a police report following a viral social media post regarding a customer's experience at the UTC Pudu Sentral Immigration Office.
Director General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban stated that an internal investigation, which included reviewing CCTV footage, departmental records, and interviewing staff on duty, revealed that several claims made in the viral post are inconsistent with the facts. The incident reportedly involved a woman who alleged she and her husband faced improper treatment on August 21 regarding a misunderstanding over a passport cover.
JIM emphasized its commitment to transparency and professionalism, noting that while it respects the right of individuals to voice grievances, accurate information is essential to avoid misunderstandings. The department has pledged full cooperation with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to clarify the situation.
