Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim Calls for Political Stability to Boost Investment

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urged the country to concentrate on economic growth and public welfare rather than election discussions for the next three to four months. He emphasized that maintaining political stability and cooperation among coalition parties is essential for attracting investment and delivering development programmes.

Speaking at events in Putrajaya and Sabah, Anwar highlighted the importance of strong federal‑state relations, especially with Sabah, to ensure effective implementation of development projects. He noted the global energy crisis caused by conflict in the Middle East, but said Malaysia has kept petrol prices stable at RM1.99 per litre and is rationalising diesel subsidies to protect farmers, fishers and public transport users. The prime minister also approved a RM250,000 allocation for upgrading facilities in secondary schools across the region.
