Malaysian police arrest eight in separate drug raids

Police in Malaysia have conducted multiple drug-related raids in Sabah and Sarawak, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals and the seizure of various narcotics.

In Sabah, the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) arrested five men in Kampung Silat, Bongawan, following public reports submitted via Facebook. During the operations, authorities seized approximately 87.22 grams of suspected syabu (methamphetamine) valued at RM5,000, along with two air rifles and an object resembling a pistol. The suspects face investigations under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the Arms Act 1960.

In Sarawak, separate raids in Kuching led to the detention of three individuals, including two men and one woman. Police recovered approximately 16.91 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 0.85 grams of Erimin 5 pills, with a total estimated value of RM1,146. The suspects, some of whom have prior criminal records, tested positive for various substances during initial screenings and remain in remand for further investigation.
