Crime and narcotics enforcement in Malaysia and Indonesia
Overview
Law enforcement operations in Malaysia and Indonesia have targeted various criminal activities, including theft, drug trafficking, and gang violence.
In Malaysia, authorities conducted raids in Perak, seizing approximately 196 kilograms of kratom leaves and 11 liters of kratom water. In Indonesia, police and citizens apprehended individuals involved in burglaries and motorcycle theft, while also addressing illegal street racing in Tangerang.
Subsequent operations in Malaysia escalated in severity. In Seremban 2, a 52-year-old suspected drug syndicate leader was shot dead by police after opening fire during a raid on an MDMA processing lab. The suspect, who had a criminal record dating back to the 1990s, was found unconscious and later died. Authorities seized 182.39 kilograms of MDMA, processing equipment, three vehicles, and a revolver.
In Selangor, police detained 21 men following two gang-related brawls in Alam Megah and Seri Muda. One brawl, believed to be over territory, resulted in the death of a 23-year-old man, while a second incident left one person injured. Eight suspects face murder charges, and four others face injury charges, while police search for 10 additional suspects.
Further narcotics enforcement occurred in Sabah and Sarawak. In Bongawan, Sabah, five men were arrested following public reports on Facebook; police seized approximately 87.22 grams of suspected syabu, two air rifles, and an object resembling a pistol. In Kuching, Sarawak, three individuals were detained following the recovery of suspected methamphetamine and Erimin 5 pills.
