Malaysia's Bersama party to contest Johor state election

Former PKR leaders Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad have revived the dormant Bersama party, positioning it as a multicultural, progressive alternative in Malaysia's fragmented political landscape. The party was relaunched on May 17, after the duo resigned from Parliament (Pandan and Setiawangsa) and left PKR.

Bersama announced it will field candidates in the upcoming 2026 Johor state election, using the contest to introduce the party to voters and test its election machinery. A nationwide tour will begin with a stop in Melaka on June 7, followed by visits to several other states, including Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Perlis and Kuala Lumpur.
