Malespín Constructora to build San Miguelito cable car in Panama
Dominican firm Malespín Constructora has been appointed as the civil works contractor for the new San Miguelito urban cable car project in Panama. This marks the company’s first large-scale public infrastructure project outside of the Dominican Republic.
The project was awarded by Metro de Panamá to Doppelmayr, a global leader in cable transport systems, with a total global investment of approximately US$255 million. Malespín Constructora will be responsible for the execution of civil works, including foundations, stations, and support towers.
The cable car system will span approximately 6.6 kilometers and feature six stations: Balboa, Cincuentenario, Samaria, Mano de Piedra, Valle de Urracá, and Torrijos Carter. The system will connect to Line 2 of the Panama Metro at the Cincuentenario station, integrating with existing mass transit to improve mobility for residents in the San Miguelito area.
