Mali Army Receives New Bayraktar AKINCI UAVs

The Mali Armed Forces held a ceremony in Sévaré to receive new Bayraktar AKINCI attack drones supplied by Turkey's Baykar. General Oumar Diarra presented the UAVs to General Elise Jean Dao, the chief of Mali's General Staff, and they were subsequently handed to the commander of the Air Force, Tuğgeneral Alou Boï Diarra. The delivery is described by Malian officials as part of a broader military modernization effort aimed at strengthening operational capacity against terrorist threats and protecting the country's territorial integrity. This follows earlier acquisitions, including Bayraktar TB2 drones and a prior AKINCI shipment in January 2026, underscoring expanding defence cooperation between Turkey and Mali.
