Mali military reports significant combatant neutralizations and civilian massacre
The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) have released reports detailing extensive military operations and recent security incidents across the country. In a six-month summary covering May to October 20, the military claimed to have neutralized over 4,880 combatants, including more than 200 in central Mali. The report also noted the destruction of 162 bases, 315 pickup trucks, and approximately 1,300 motorcycles.
In the Ménaka region, a joint patrol discovered 54 bodies at a camp in Tagadayat, located about 35 kilometers southeast of Ménaka. Survivors attributed the massacre to the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (EIGS). In response, FAMa has increased protection measures and facilitated the movement of threatened residents toward the city of Ménaka.
Additionally, recent targeted operations under ‘Operation Dougoukoloko’ resulted in strikes against terrorist positions in the Koulikoro and Mopti regions. In Koulikoro, a group near Kenenkoun was neutralized, while in Mopti, two separate gatherings of militants in the Bozola sector were struck. The military continues surveillance and reconnaissance efforts to address residual threats.
