On 20 July 2026 police from the Brigade régionale des stupéfiants (BRS) in Kédougou, part of the Office central de répression du trafic illicite des stupéfiants (OCRTIS), raided a suspected drug‑sale point in the village of Bambaranding. Two men sharing a bedroom were arrested after investigators acted on an operational tip.

The raid yielded a massive seizure: 2 050 Tramadol tablets, 800 g of bulk Kush and 127 Kush cones, including 1 500 additional Tramadol tablets discovered in a nearby storage hut. The suspects were charged with association of malefactors, detention and trafficking of psychotropic substances, illegal practice of pharmacy and trafficking of Kush, and were forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for further investigation.
