Malian Armed Forces strike terrorist groups in Mopti and Dandougou

The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa), supported by partners, conducted military strikes against terrorist groups on August 20, 2026, as part of Operation Dougoukoloko.

In the Mopti region, west of Youwarou, intelligence-led operations targeted several terrorist gathering points. These locations reportedly contained terrorist leaders and significant quantities of war materiel.

In the Dandougou sector near Dioila, military forces identified another group estimated at at least 200 terrorists, including several leaders, attempting to hide under dense vegetation. This group was also equipped with war materiel and logistical resources.

Initial assessments indicate the strikes caused significant damage to terrorist structures and resulted in the destruction of various pieces of equipment. While specific casualty figures have not yet been released, surveillance operations are ongoing to establish a consolidated report.
