Malindi Sub-County Hospital receives Kenya’s first AI-powered X-ray and CT scanner
Malindi Sub-County Hospital has received Kenya’s first AI-powered digital X-ray and a new CT scan machine. The equipment was unveiled by Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro to improve diagnostic imaging access for local residents.
The digital X-ray unit is capable of processing up to 250 images daily, with results transmitted electronically in real time to attending doctors. This eliminates the need for patients to carry physical X-ray films between departments. The CT scanner is expected to perform between 20 and 30 scans per day, which officials say will reduce the patient load at the Kilifi County Referral Hospital.
Governor Mung’aro indicated plans to roll out similar advanced equipment to other facilities, including the Kilifi County Referral Hospital, in the near future.
