Mallorca grants heritage protection to Can Marc estate in Binissalem

The Consell de Mallorca has initiated the process to declare the Can Marc estate in Binissalem a Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC) under the category of monument. The estate, which includes a residence, winery, presses, stables, and orchards, is considered a premier example of rural manorial architecture.

Acquired by the local government for 2.3 million euros using European tourism funds, the property is slated to become a wine and vineyard interpretation center. The site is historically linked to the Salom de la Torre family and the viticultural development of the Raiguer region during the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.

The protection covers the entire 2,708-square-meter cadastral plot. Architectural highlights include an 18th-century facade with Rococo-style wrought iron balconies, stone arches, and original interior elements such as traditional flooring and wooden ceiling structures.
