Mallorca faces extreme heatwave with temperatures exceeding 39°C

Mallorca is experiencing an intense heatwave, with temperatures reaching as high as 39.3 degrees Celsius in areas such as Pollença and Petra. The state weather agency, Aemet, has issued yellow alerts for much of the island due to these extreme temperatures, which significantly exceed seasonal averages.

The heat is particularly severe in the island's interior, where temperatures are expected to hit 38 degrees Celsius in the shade. Most of the island is under alert, with the exception of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains.

In addition to the heat, emergency services have issued warnings regarding increased wildfire risks due to dry vegetation. Nighttime temperatures have also remained high, with lows staying several degrees above the long-term average, complicating relief from the heat.
