Malnutrition and stunting affect children in Gaza

Children in the Gaza Strip are increasingly suffering from malnutrition, stunting, and significant weight loss due to widespread food shortages and high prices. Medical professionals report that the scarcity of essential nutrients like meat, vegetables, fruits, and legumes is severely impacting child development.

At Al-Rantisi Hospital in Gaza City, doctors are treating approximately 30 cases of acute and severe malnutrition daily. Medical experts note that severe malnutrition often presents with symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea, and can lead to decreased immunity and death. There are also growing concerns regarding the emergence of stunting, particularly in children over the age of five.
