Malta begins technical rehearsals for Junior Eurovision 2026

Technical rehearsals have commenced at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali for the 24th edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Scheduled for October 24, the event follows France's refusal to host after their recent victory. This marks the third time Malta has hosted the competition, having previously held the event in 2014 and 2016.

Production teams are currently rehearsing various show elements, including stand-in performances for the sixteen competing acts. The host broadcaster, PBS, has moved into the venue, and the Junior Eurovision Song Contest Village in St Paul’s Square, Qawra, is set to be revealed. As part of the festivities, each of the sixteen acts will visit a local school during their stay in Malta.

The production aims to integrate Maltese ‘Festa’ heritage into the broadcast, blending Mediterranean tradition with modern music.
