Malta police arrest two men in 12,000 euro jewelry scam

Two men, aged 22 and 49, have been arrested in Malta following a telephone scam targeting a minor. The perpetrators posed as an accountant to convince the victim to collect approximately 12,000 euros worth of jewelry.

Following the scammers' instructions, the minor placed the jewelry in a bag and left it outside her residence for collection. However, police identified and apprehended the suspects as they attempted to flee in a vehicle. The stolen jewelry was recovered and returned to the victim's family. Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
