Mamata Banerjee calls for INDIA bloc unity against BJP
Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will face a political decline sooner than the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. Speaking at a press conference, Banerjee called for the INDIA bloc to unite and focus on immediate challenges, specifically targeting the Election Commission of India regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Banerjee expressed concerns over the functioning of the Election Commission and called for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. She also alleged that the BJP won previous elections through manipulation and suggested that the current political landscape could shift significantly within the next few months.
Additionally, Banerjee accused the BJP of creating an environment of anarchy and autocracy in West Bengal following its recent political victories in the state. She claimed that rising political tensions and targeted attacks on TMC leaders have made it difficult for her to leave her home. While the TMC alleges these attacks are politically motivated, the BJP has characterized such incidents as expressions of public anger against the TMC.
