Mambasa: Ten killed in attacks attributed to ADF

Attacks attributed to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) have left at least ten people dead in the Mambasa territory of Ituri. The violence occurred during the night of October 15 to 16, 2026, targeting several mining sites in the Bakaheku grouping, specifically in Makimbilio, Biasiko, and Makamanda, before moving toward Mangadi.

Local monitoring group APDEF Mambasa reported that the victims included one woman and several men. The region is currently facing a dual crisis: heightened insecurity from armed groups and an ongoing Ebola epidemic. Local observers note that the violence and the imposition of illegal taxes by armed men on farmers and miners are complicating humanitarian efforts and hindering access to healthcare for affected communities.

Civil society leaders have called on the Congolese military (FARDC) to intensify patrols and operations to address the rising insecurity, which has also included incidents of hostage-taking and property destruction in neighboring areas.
