Man arrested in Alagoas after death of two-month-old infant

A 19-year-old man was arrested in flagrante following the death of his two-month-old daughter in Senador Rui Palmeira, Alagoas. The infant was brought to a 24-hour health unit without vital signs.

A physician on duty alerted the Military Police after discovering bruises on the infant's body and a suspected fracture in one of her legs. The parents claimed the injuries resulted from the child falling off a bed twice in recent days.

The Civil Police and the Medical Legal Institute (IML) have been engaged to investigate the circumstances. While the father remains in custody, the mother, who is a minor, was released. Authorities are awaiting the necropsy report to determine the exact cause of death and whether the injuries were caused by accidents or physical aggression.
