Man charged with murder in Port Macquarie death investigation

A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder following an investigation into the death of 31-year-old Megan Tangye. The arrest occurred on a houseboat moored in the Hastings River.

Ms. Tangye was found with multiple injuries at a unit on Gore Street in Port Macquarie on December 27, 2025. She was transported to Port Macquarie Hospital, where she died shortly after. Following a post-mortem examination, police treated the death as suspicious.

Detective Inspector Mark Rogers stated that the arrest followed the receipt of final autopsy findings, which identified the cause of death as blunt-force trauma believed to be the result of an assault. The suspect, understood to be Ms. Tangye’s former partner, also faces charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The investigation was conducted by the Mid North Coast Police District with assistance from the NSW State Crime Command Homicide Squad under Strike Force Hazen.
