Man dies in fatal tractor accident near Slovenian-Italian border

A 55-year-old man died following a fatal accident involving a tractor in the village of Golo Brdo, located in the Brda municipality near the Slovenian-Italian border. The incident occurred shortly after 8:00 PM on Wednesday.

According to the Nova Gorica Police Administration, the man was operating a tractor equipped with a tank. After turning from a regional road onto a track leading toward the Idrija River, the tractor reversed into the riverbed, stalled, and the handbrake became stuck. Preliminary findings suggest the accident occurred while the man was dismounting the vehicle or its metal steps, causing him to fall on his back and sustain a severe head injury.

Emergency responders, including firefighters and paramedics from Nova Gorica, arrived at the scene, but the man had already passed away. Due to the proximity to the state border, Italian security authorities (Carabinieri) were notified. Police have ruled out third-party involvement and have informed the investigating judge and the district state prosecutor. A sanitary autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
