Mexican man killed by truck while fleeing ICE agents in St. Augustine

A 28‑year‑old Mexican national was among four occupants whose vehicle was stopped by ICE and Homeland Security Investigations agents at a gas‑station parking lot in St. Augustine, Florida. All four fled on foot; the man ran across State Road 16 and was struck by a semi‑tractor‑trailer, dying at the scene. Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Dylan Bryan said the truck driver stopped and attempted to render aid. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed an operation near St. Johns County and said the victim was a Mexican national. The death is the third fatality linked to ICE enforcement actions within a week, following shootings in Texas and Maine, and has prompted criticism from local officials, including state Rep. Angie Nixon, who called the incident a tragedy caused by an “out‑of‑control agency.”
