Zacatecas police killed in bomb attack, second armed assault kills five assailants

A bomb‑laden vehicle detonated on a police patrol in the municipality of Luis Moya, Zacatecas, on Friday night, killing one municipal police officer and wounding two others. Hours later, state and federal forces repelled an armed ambush in the Calera municipality, killing five armed civilians, seizing eight long‑range weapons and three vehicles. Secretary General of Government Rodrigo Reyes Mugüerza confirmed the incidents and said the state has launched a large‑scale security operation along the Zacatecas‑Aguascalientes border, reinforcing patrols, checkpoints and road searches. Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution and allow security forces free movement. The situation is reported as under control while investigations continue.
