Manaus and Santo André advance 2027 municipal budget plans

The Câmara Municipal de Manaus approved in first reading the draft Law 486/2026 that sets the 2027 Budget Guidelines (LDO) for the city. The proposal outlines fiscal targets, public‑spending priorities, debt management and tax legislation, and includes a public online consultation. Lawmakers have five days to submit amendments and a public hearing is scheduled for 15 June before the text returns for a second reading and eventual mayoral sanction.

In Santo André, the municipal government presented its 2027 LDO, projecting revenue of R$ 5.685 billion – a 7.26 % rise over the 2026 estimate. The plan emphasizes spending on health (R$ 1.146 billion), education (about R$ 1 billion), social assistance, security and infrastructure. Officials highlighted expected gains from improved tax collection, debt‑recovery and external funding, including a prospective R$ 112 million loan for sanitation and environmental projects. The proposal now moves to the city council for deliberation.
