Manaus authorities enhance urban mobility and accessibility
The Manaus City Hall, through the Municipal Institute of Urban Planning (Implurb) and the Municipal Institute of Urban Mobility (IMMU), is intensifying efforts to improve urban organization and accessibility across the city.
At the new Implurb headquarters in the Parque Mosaico area, parking capacity has been expanded. The facility includes 78 spaces for users—with three reserved for people with disabilities (PcDs) and four for the elderly—and 204 spaces for employees, which includes dedicated spots for PcDs, the elderly, and motorcycles. Officials emphasize that respecting these reserved spaces is essential for ensuring dignity and autonomy for those who need them.
Simultaneously, IMMU has deployed teams across various zones of Manaus to reinforce road signaling. Key actions include the installation of pedestrian crossings, horizontal markings, and regulatory signs. Specific improvements have been made near the Adolpho Lisboa municipal market, on Avenida Compensa, and on Avenida São Jorge. Additionally, new 'Stop' markings were implemented in the São José Operário neighborhood to prevent collisions, and lane markings were reinforced near the Eduardo Gomes International Airport to improve traffic discipline and pedestrian safety.
