Manaus urban planning and mobility initiatives
Overview
In 2026, the Municipal Institute of Urban Planning (Implurb) in Manaus focused on managing urban growth through extensive licensing processes. Between January and August of that year, the Project Approval Division evaluated 5,290 applications to ensure compliance with urban legislation.
Efforts subsequently expanded to include urban mobility and accessibility improvements. Through Implurb and the Municipal Institute of Urban Mobility (IMMU), the city enhanced parking capacity at the new Implurb headquarters, including dedicated spaces for the elderly and people with disabilities. Additionally, IMMU deployed teams to reinforce road signaling, installing pedestrian crossings, regulatory signs, and lane markings in various zones, including areas near the Adolpho Lisboa municipal market and the Eduardo Gomes International Airport.
