Manaus expands free public service outreach in eastern neighborhoods
The Municipality of Manaus held two free‑service mutirões in the eastern districts of the city. On July 4, the fifth edition of the “Manaus Cidadã” program took place in the Colônia Antônio Aleixo neighbourhood, delivering around 10,000 citizen contacts. Services included Cadastro Único registration, medical consultations, vaccinations, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, physiotherapy, documentation assistance, legal aid, and even haircut and childcare facilities.
A week earlier, the “Manaus que a Gente Cuida” program operated in the Jorge Teixeira neighbourhood, pairing health and social aid with infrastructure upgrades such as road repairs, street‑light improvements and public‑space cleaning. Residents received medical check‑ups, medication, vaccinations and assistance with housing and social‑program enrollment.
Both initiatives aim to decentralise municipal services, bringing health, social and citizenship assistance directly to vulnerable families in peripheral areas of the capital.
