Manaus hires 295 staff for 2026 animal rabies vaccination campaign

The Municipality of Manaus opened a simplified public hiring process to recruit 295 temporary workers for the 2026 Animal Rabies Vaccination Campaign. The positions include 270 vaccinators/registrars, 12 field assistants, eight data tabulators and five veterinary doctors. Salaries range from R$1,621 for vaccinators (plus a 5 % hazard allowance) to R$8,764.38 for veterinarians, with transport allowances for all. Selected staff will work 36 hours per week from September 1 to November 30, providing door‑to‑door vaccination of dogs and cats across the city. Health secretary Nagib Salem emphasized the program’s impact, noting that “Manaus has not had a human rabies case in over 40 years, thanks to the annual campaign.” The hiring aims to sustain that record by bolstering the teams that supervise, record and support the vaccine rollout.
