Manaus implements new traffic system on José Clemente Street

The Manaus City Hall, through the Municipal Institute of Urban Mobility (IMMU), has implemented a new traffic operation on José Clemente Street in the city center. The intervention introduces a ‘mão inglesa’ (two-way traffic on a single roadway) system between Eduardo Ribeiro Avenue and Joaquim Sarmento Street.

This change is part of a broader effort to reorganize vehicle circulation due to construction work for the capital’s first ‘Gastronomic Street’. The new configuration establishes a one-way flow on the section of José Clemente Street between Epaminondas Avenue and Joaquim Sarmento Street, while the stretch between Joaquim Sarmento and Eduardo Ribeiro Avenue will operate with two-way traffic.

To support the transition, new horizontal and vertical road signaling has been installed. Additionally, changes affect Lobo D'Almada Street, which is currently closed between José Clemente and 10 de Julho Street. Drivers approaching José Clemente from Lobo D'Almada must turn right to access Eduardo Ribeiro Avenue.
