Manaus Industrial Pole transport workers strike over wages

Specialized transport workers at the Manaus Industrial Pole (PIM) launched a strike on Thursday, paralyzing various routes across the capital. The movement follows the rejection of a 3% salary increase proposal by the workers.

According to the Union of Special Transport Workers of Manaus (Sindespecial), protesters occupied twelve strategic points, including major avenues such as Max Teixeira, Torquato Tapajós, and Pedro Teixeira, as well as the Rio Negro Bridge. The strike has caused significant traffic disruptions near the TPV factory and the Sambódromo.

In addition to higher wage increases, workers are demanding reduced working hours, improved food allowances, and better overall working conditions, citing accumulated losses in recent years.
