Manaus ipê trees transform Avenida Djalma Batista during flowering season

The white ipê trees planted along the central median of Avenida Djalma Batista in Manaus have entered their flowering season, transforming the urban landscape of the city. The project, which involved planting approximately 315 white ipê trees, was initiated around 2012-2013 as part of a broader urban arborization policy to create a green corridor and improve environmental quality.

The flowering typically coincides with the peak of the dry season, known as the Amazonian Summer, between September and October. During this period, the trees shed their leaves to highlight their vibrant blossoms. The Municipal Secretariat of Environment and Sustainability (Semmas) monitors these cycles and collects seeds to produce new seedlings for future planting.

In addition to the ipês, the city's arborization efforts have included the planting of over 700 'pau-pretinho' trees along the sidewalks of the same avenue. These initiatives aim to mitigate the impact of concrete and asphalt in the urban environment.
