Manaus leaders announce mobility partnership and address transport strike

Manaus Mayor Renato Junior and Amazonas gubernatorial candidate David Almeida have announced a plan to restore collaborative action between the municipal and state governments. The partnership aims to implement major urban mobility projects, most notably a new avenue along the Bindá, Franceses, and Mindu streams. This road is intended to connect Max Teixeira to the Rio Negro waterfront, passing through five of the city's most congested areas. Other proposed works include widening Torquato Tapajós, connecting Max Teixeira and Turismo avenues, and constructing a viaduct at Bola do Eldorado.

Separately, Mayor Renato Junior confirmed that a recent public transport strike in Manaus has ended. The strike, which began on a Tuesday morning, was reportedly initiated by workers without prior notice to the union. The Mayor noted that the city continues to provide financial support to the collective transport system, claiming the municipality is covering costs that the state government has failed to pay. This includes ongoing disputes regarding funding for the state-level student free pass (Passe Livre Estudantil), which Sinetram states has impacted the cash flow of transport companies.
