Overview

Public transportation in Manaus experienced significant disruptions due to labor strikes and infrastructure issues. Road workers initiated a strike over unpaid wages, which caused reduced fleet availability and increased wait times across various regions. In addition to service interruptions, commuters in the Distrito Industrial and South Zone faced deteriorating infrastructure, including damaged bus stops with broken tiles and destroyed seating.

Following the strike, Manaus Mayor Renato Junior and Amazonas gubernatorial candidate David Almeida announced a partnership to restore collaboration between municipal and state governments. This plan focuses on urban mobility projects, such as constructing a new avenue to connect Max Teixeira to the Rio Negro waterfront and widening Torquato Tapajós. The Mayor confirmed the strike had ended and noted that the municipality has been providing financial support to cover costs the state government failed to pay.
